'RuPaul's Drag Race UK' Crowns a New Winner

The finale came down on Thursday, November 30, for Season 5 of "RuPaul's Drag Race UK" with a new queen sashaying away with the crown.

Finalists Michael Marouli, Tomara Thomas and Ginger Johnson took to the runway one last time in a category called: Dripping In Jewels. Finale Eleganza!, as well as performing in a music video cover of RuPaul's hit "Spotlight" in which they played cat burglars trying to get their claws on the crown.

Each queen met with RuPaul and Michelle Visage beforehand to discuss their Drag Race journey. Each also received a surprise and highly emotional visit from a family member. After which they trained with guest choreographer Claudimar Neto for their videos.

But in the final moments, RuPaul made her decisions. First, she sent Tomara Thomas home. "Tomara Thomas, you are a brilliant queen with a bright future. But, I'm sorry my dear, this is not your time," Ru told her.

This left Ginger Johnson and Michael Marouli to lip synch it out to "A Little Respect" by Erasure.

At the end, the supermodel of the world, RuPaul, chose 34 year old County Durham queen Ginger Johnson as this season's winner. Ginger was awarded their own show with the producers of RuPaul's Drag Race, World of Wonder, and of course the coveted crown and scepter.

Wielding her crown and sceptre, Ginger Johnson said: "Thank you for everything. I've had the time of my life and I'm not only leaving here with this shiny little stick but with the most amazing crowd of sisters I could ever dream of."

RuPaul responded: "Bravo! Now prance my queen, prance!"

Ginger continued: "I'm not often lost for words but I am astounded. There is nothing bigger than this and to win is just everything. This is the perfect end to the perfect dream."
