Trans 'Jeopardy!' Champ Amy Schneider Engaged to Girlfriend
Record-setting, openly transgender "Jeopardy!" Champ Amy Schneider announced her engagement to her girlfriend in a joyous Twitter post, People Magazine reported.
"Genevieve is no longer my girlfriend... she's my fiancée!!!" Schneider announced in the tweet, NBC News recounted. "I couldn't be happier or more proud to spend my life with the very best person in the entire world."
The tweet was accompanied by a photo of the happy couple's hands, adorned with diamond engagement rings.
"Schneider, a former engineering manager from Oakland, California, made history in November by becoming the first transgender contestant to make it to the 'Jeopardy!' Tournament of Champions," NBC recalled.
"Several weeks later, she became the highest-earning female contestant in the game show's nearly 57-year run."
Schneider's followers responded with a shower of well wishes and congratulations. Some made punning references to Schneider's "Jeopardy!" celebrity, while others thanked the game show champion for sharing a spot of good news during a stressful time, as headlines were otherwise dominated with news of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
